Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Idris Barzani, issued the following statement regarding begins of election campaign for the sixth session of the Iraqi Council of Representatives:

Political Parties and Groups;
As the election campaign for the sixth session of the Iraqi Council of Representatives begins, I encourage everyone to follow the directives established by the Independent High Electoral Commission. It is crucial to carry out the campaign with civility, embodying coexistence, mutual respect, and the rich diversity of Kurdistan’s communities, while steering clear of any behaviors that could provoke tension, division, or disrupt the tranquility of citizens.
Everyone has the right to promote their policies and agendas; however, it is imperative that no one disseminates hatred and animosity. As an open society, the citizens of Kurdistan must participate with responsibility in this process. The participation of women in the elections is of great significance, and it is vital to uphold their dignity, reputation, and standing. Additionally, the symbols and sacred values of all communities must be honored. The security forces are anticipated to perform their responsibilities with professionalism, guaranteeing protection for everyone. Indeed, those representing the Kurdistan Region in the Iraqi Council of Representatives must acknowledge that their foremost responsibility is to serve the citizens of both Kurdistan and Iraq. They should realize that by fostering unity, solidarity, and cooperation, they can improve their service to the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, thereby protecting the rights, accomplishments, and interests of the country. Consequently, it is essential for them to avoid engaging in such actions against one another during the campaign, which could hinder their ability to work together in the future.
