The 83rd Venice International Film Festival has unveiled its International Competition jury, chaired by American director and actress Maggie Gyllenhaal. Joining her are Tunisian filmmaker Kaouther Ben Hania, British composer Daniel Blumberg, Italian-American scholar Francesco Casetti, French director Xavier Giannoli, Afghan director Shahrbanoo Sadat, and Hong Kong veteran Johnnie To. The jury will award the Golden Lion for Best Film, Silver Lions, Coppa Volpi acting prizes, and the Marcello Mastroianni Award for Best Young Actor or Actress. Venice 83 runs from September 2 to 12, 2026, on the Lido, and will also feature the Orizzonti competition, classic restorations, and industry events.

The Press Office of the Venice International Film Festival announced the members of the jury for the International Competition section of the 83rd Venice International Film Festival as follows: the American director, actress, screenwriter and producer Maggie Gyllenhaal - President of the Jury, the Tunisian director and screenwriter Kaouther Ben Hania, the English composer and artist Daniel Blumberg, the Italian professor Francesco Casetti; the French director and screenwriter Xavier Giannoli, the Afghan director and screenwriter Shahrbanoo Sadat and the Hong Kong director and producer Johnnie To.

Jury members selected by Venice Biennale Board

The Venice Film Festival is organized by the Venice Biennale, and the jury members for the 83rd International Competition of this prestigious film event were selected by the Venice Biennale Board of Directors on the recommendation of Artistic Director of the Festival, Alberto Barbera.
