Mansour Jahani - The winners of the “Un Certain Regard” competition were announced at the 79th Cannes International Film Festival in France, and the film “Everytime” won the Best Film Award. According to the report of Mansour Jahani, an independent and international film journalist, the awards ceremony for the “Un Certain Regard” competition of the 79th Cannes International Film Festival was held by the members of the jury of this section of the prestigious world cinema festival at 8:00 PM on Friday, May 22, 2026, at the Debussy Hall, a screening venue for critics, journalists, and film writers in the coastal city of Cannes, France. The winners of this section of the festival received awards in their various sections.
Jury members of the Un Certain Regard competition
The jury members of the “Un Certain Regard” competition of the 79th Cannes International Film Festival were; Chaired by the French actress Leïla Bekhti, Senegalese producer Angèle Diabang, Lebanese composer Khaled Mouzanar, Italian director Laura Samani, and French filmmaker Thomas Cailley, announced the winners of this section, which is the second section of the Cannes International Film Festival competition and is dedicated to new talents in cinema in the world, from among 19 films from directors from different countries around the world, as follows:
Un Certain Regard Prize
The Best Film Award in the “Un Certain Regard” competition at the 79th Cannes Film Festival went to “Everytime”, directed by Sandra Wollner, a co-production between Austria and Germany.
Jury Prize
The film “Elephants in the Fog” directed by Abinash Bikram Shah, a joint production of Nepal, France, Germany, Brazil and Norway, received the Jury Prize in this section of the festival.
Special Jury Prize
The Jury Prize for this section of the festival was awarded to the animated film “Iron Boy” directed by Louis Clichy, a joint production between France and Belgium.
Best Actor
The Best Actor Award went to Bradley Fiomona Dembeasset for his role in the film “Congo Boy”, directed by Rafiki Fariala, a joint production between Central African, France, The Democratic Republic of The Congo and Italy.
Best Actress
The Best Actress Award was also presented to Marina de Tavira, Daniela Marin Navarro and Mariangel Villegas and for her role in the film “Forever Your Maternal Animal” directed by Valentina Maurel a joint production between Belgium, France and Mexico.
Competition for the Caméra d'Or Award
Celebrating a cinema of discoveries, the 2026 selection has included 19 feature films – 6 of which are first features also competing for the Caméra d’or Award.

The 79th Cannes International Film Festival, the world's most prestigious film event, was opened on May 12, 2026 in Cannes, is chaired by Iris Knobloch, with artistic direction by Thierry Frémaux, and with the screening of films by directors from different countries in various Competition and out of Competition, including the “Main Competition”, the “Un Certain Regard” competition, the “La Cinef” (The Cinéfondation) short film competition, the “Special Screening” out of competition, the “Classic Screening” out of competition, and the “Cinema Sahel” out of competition.
